Rahul Kashyap is a well known 3rd time cybersecurity founder who has worked in the industry for the last 25 years. Over this time, he founded Awake Security (Acq. Arista Networks), a network detection and response solution, and E8 Security (acq. VMware) in the behavioral threat detection space. He also served in important roles at foundational security companies over the years: Recently as the VP/GM and CISO at Arista Networks, CTO at Cylance, Chief Security Architect at Bromium (Acq. HP), and Head of Vulnerability Research at McAfee. Most recently, he left Arista to start another exciting journey as a founder, this time related to endpoint security. Through his wide range of experiences, he is incredibly knowledgeable in all things cyber, and will be sharing with us parts of his journey, learnings, and his new company.

Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI), is revolutionizing modern warfare by piercing the fog of war and providing actionable insights. For Ukraine, OSINT has enabled anticipatory intelligence, situational awareness, and strategic decision-making on the battlefield. This presentation examines OSINT applications in the Ukraine war, including the ability to detect emerging conflicts, troop tracking and targeting, crowdsourcing, war-crime verification, and AI-assisted fact-checking and debunking.

Nelia Lanets is a member of Stanford University IT team with a strong passion for cybersecurity. She joined the Stanford Applied Cyber community in 2024 where she continues to expand her skills and knowledge. Originally from Ukraine, Nelia earned her graduate and postgraduate degrees in Social Sciences. She also holds the CompTIA Security+ certification and is currently pursuing the CISSP credential. Outside of her professional work, Nelia volunteers with Pocket Security, a nonprofit organization that provides cybersecurity assessments and GRC support to nonprofits across the United States.
